Corona Update: current opening steps


New opening hours: Monday-Saturday 9-20

243 individual workstations are offered on a first-come-first-served basis throughout opening hours.

This eliminates the need for online reservations and two tiers of usage.

Current on-site services in the Central Library and in the Medical Library

In accordance to the current  Corona measures of CAU, our on-site services will be limited to the following uses:

Central Library

  •  Carrels
  •  Pick-up and return
  • Individual workstations
    A total of 243 individual workstations are offered on a first-come-first-served basis throughout opening hours:
    • 144 workstations on the ground floor, 2nd segment
    • 99 workstations on the upper floor, 1st-3rd segment at the external windows
  • Functional areas
    Currently available are the workstation for the visually impaired and blind, book scanner, checkroom lockers, copy rooms, microfilm room.
  • Information counter
    The KWS security staff or assistants sit at the information desk. This is where the admission control for contact data tracking takes place and the baskets for the use of the offered individual workstations are handed out. The KWS staff does not provide information on library use. The Hiwis provide information as part of the limited evening service.

Information on the respective special libraries can be found on their websites or on those of their institutes or departments.

We are rebuilding for you

On Monday, August 2, 2021, construction work will begin on the 3rd segment of the Central Library. Construction is expected to extend through the end of 2021.

Important information for users:

  • User services, such as borrowing and returning media, the self-collection area with self-service borrowing, and interlibrary loan, will continue to be available without restrictions.
  • In addition, the workstations in segments 1 and 2 will be accessible as before.
  • In contrast, the 3rd segment, including the adjacent bars 3 & 4, will be closed during construction.
  • We ask for your understanding that there may be noise and dust during the reconstruction phase. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
