Building measures

We rebuild for you ... and there will be room for something new!

As part of the construction measures at Kiel Christian Albrechts University, the conversion of the Central Library continues. After the completion of the 3rd segment, the conversion of the 2nd segment on the ground floor will begin on April 7, 2022.

We offer the on-site services without any restrictions.

The 2nd segment, incl. the adjacent aisles 2 & 3, is closed during construction work.

We ask for your understanding that there may be noise and dust during the conversion phase. We would like to apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

After the reconstruction you can expect in the 2nd segment on the ground floor:

  • a diversely designed and arranged work area for quiet individual work
  • an IT work area with sound-proofed IT group workstations, some with extensive technical equipment
  • support for digital and hybrid learning with modern Windows workstations, mobile multifunctional displays, video conferencing solutions, and technology for recording and producing media
  • personal consultations in a room-in-room concept, e.g. writing consultations, literature research
  • technical equipment for assistance with visual impairments and microfilm technology
  • an IT helpdesk

Roof renovation of the Central Library

Renovation work is currently taking place on the roof of the Central Library. In addition to urgently needed repairs, greening and the installation of a photovoltaic system are also planned. We ask for your understanding that noise may be generated during the work and apologize for any inconvenience.

Since April 4 2022 the 3. Segment is open

We are pleased to announce that after the completion of the first construction phase on the first floor of the Central Library, the 3. Segment is open to everyone since April 4.
