New from 17 August 2020: Extended Central Library opening hours and online workstation booking

From 17 August, we extend our Central Library opening hours:

  • Mon-Fri 9 a.m. - 6.30 p.m.
  • Sat 11 a.m. - 4.30 p.m.

Thus, from 17 August the usage sessions of our individual workstations on the ground floor of the 3rd segment will be:

  • Mon-Fri 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. - 6.30 p.m. (two sessions on workdays)
  • Sat 11 a.m. - 4.30 p.m. (one session on Saturdays)

In response to many requests from students, we are combining the extension of our opening hours with a prior mandatory online workstation reservation. Please use our reservation system to book an individual workstation free of charge up to 8 days in advance. Reservations are possible as of now.

The Service Counter remains to be open Mon-Fri 10 a.m. - 12 noon.

Current on-site services in the Central Library and in the Medical Library

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Central Library and the Medical Library have limited access. The following on-site services are currently available:

Central Library:
Pick-up and return of print resources (Mon-Fri 9 a.m. - 4.30 p.m.)
Individual workstations (3rd segment, ground floor) (Mon-Fri 9 a.m. - 12 noon and 1.30 p.m. - 4.30 p.m.)
Service Counter (Mon-Fri 10 a.m. – 12 noon)

You are a member of Kiel University and need a specific book not yet available here? Please feel free to make a licensing request, so that we can make your requested e-book available to all members of Kiel University immediately via on-campus access. We ask for your understanding that, in view of the total amount of 35,000 Euros for the whole of the university, only a selection of low- and medium-priced titles can be considered.
