New as of October 1st: More individual workstations - without prior online reservation

As of October 1st, we will offer an initial 58 additional individual workstations on the first floors of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd segments. The individual workstations will be available within the known usage sessions on a “first come, first served” basis for spontaneous use without prior online reservation. Please find more detailed information on our homepage as soon as this new service is launched.

In order to meet varying usage requirements, the 144 individual workstations on the ground floor of the 3rd segment continue to be allocated by prior online reservation only. Please cancel your workstation in time if you do not wish to use it. Thank you.

Current on-site services in the Central Library and in the Medical Library

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Central Library and the Medical Library have limited access. The following on-site services are currently available:

Central Library:
Carrels : Mon-Fri 9 a.m. - 6.30 p.m. as well as Sat 11 a.m. - 4.30 p.m.
Individual workstations (3rd segment, ground floor) - incl. use of non-lending collections: Mon-Fri 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. / 2.30 p.m. - 6.30 p.m. as well as Sat 11 a.m. - 4.30 p.m. by prior online reservation only
Self-pick-up of open stacks print resources: Mon-Fri 9 a.m. - 6.30 p.m. as well as Sat 11 a.m. - 4.30 p.m.
Service Counter - incl. pick-up and return: Mon-Fri 9 a.m. - 6.30 p.m. as well as Sat 11 a.m. - 4.30 p.m.
Workstation for the blind and visually impaired: Mon-Fri 9 a.m. - 6.30 p.m. as well as Sat 11 a.m. - 4.30 p.m.

Our integrated printers / copiers / scanners, lifts, lockers, sanitary facilities and vending machines for beverages and snacks are available throughout our opening hours.

Please feel free to make a licensing request, so that we can make your requested e-book available to all members of Kiel University immediately via on-campus access. We ask for your understanding that, in view of the total amount of 35,000 Euros for the whole of the university, only a selection of low- and medium-priced titles can be considered.
