Internet Workstations

Internet workstations are available for you to use to do research in catalogues, databases as well as electronic journals.

You can access the Internet using the access data for your user account: user number + Central Library password. Visitors can get a visitor card from the service counter.

MS Office programmes are not installed on these devices.

You can export data via USB, but you cannot import data for processing.

Wi-Fi

You can use your own mobile devices in the Central Library via Wi-Fi.

Access for Visitors

You will receive guest access if

• your university/home institution does NOT have Eduroam access (e.g. Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design, FHVD Altenholz, WAK S-H).
• you are not resident in Schleswig-Holstein.

Please have your student ID and your identity card ready at our service desk for the issue of the guest ID.

Note on the use of Eduroam:
The latest Eduroam version (including the security certificates) on the mobile device is a prerequisite for WLAN access in the Central Library. In addition, it may be necessary to reassign the personal WLAN password in the CIM portal after updating or not using Eduroam for a longer period of time.

VPN

All students and members of Kiel University can access the University Library's licensed electronic items from outside the campus (e.g. from home).
