Rights of use

Orientative preliminary research

The rights of use should be regulated in the respective publication agreements. In the context of a second publication, they should therefore be consulted first if your work has not been published under a Creative Commons license and can therefore be placed on MACAU without any problems. Otherwise, you can obtain information on subsequent use options for your articles, book chapters or books and on the corresponding policies of journals and publishers by using the following tools and the flow chart. Please note, however, that these statements are not legally binding and do not replace an enquiry with the rights holder in case of doubt. You can find non-binding samples of usage rights requests below.

Image citation

In the case of scientific works, it is possible in certain cases to cite images, graphics and maps protected by copyright (so-called image citation). The prerequisite is that the author deals intellectually with the material in his or her work, i.e. that there is an inner reference. Use for purely illustrative purposes is not permitted. In addition, no changes may be made and the citation must be accompanied by a full reference to the source.
