What Does the Medical Department Offer?

In total, there are 72 workstations available to students in the building, distributed over the PC area, book collection, reading room, media room and 2 group study rooms. In our book section, you will find current textbooks and specialist literature for clinical medicine, many of which have multiple copies available to borrow. Older literature published up to the year 2000 must be ordered via the library catalogue from the stacks in Westring. This literature will then be available in Breiten Weg on the next working day after 2pm.

Interested persons without a Kiel University library card are welcome to use the inventory on site. The service counter of the Medical Department is available to all users of the University Library for borrowing and returning media.

Technical Equipment

The building is equipped with access to the CAU's wireless network via Wi-Fi, so that the students can use their own laptops for learning in the building. The PC area is equipped with 18 computer workstations, which provide Internet access to all electronically-available media; it also serves as a training room, in which IT training related to the subject of medicine is offered for the UKSH (e.g. for PubMed and EndNote). You can use a coin-operated copier and printer from Ricoh in the building. There is also a self-service terminal for validating the CAU Card in the building.
